With The Macallan's latest release, this is the perfect bottle to kickstart our Collector's Corner series!
How it came to be
The Macallan Fine Cacao is released as part of Macallan's highly exclusive Harmony Collection, being the second bottle to join the series after the Rich Cacao.
The Macallan Fine Cacao uses different oak casks and a lower ABV which brings a mellower profile of milk chocolate.
Randall Tan, The Macallan Brand Ambassador for Southeast Asia and the Pacific says that the reason behind achieving this profile is so that “It lets you experience the story that the whisky maker is trying to tell"
The Macallan Whisky Maker, Polly Logan was the genius behind this bottling. Working with acclaimed pastry chef Jordi Roca and Master Chocolatier Damian Allsop of Roca’s Casa Cacao, they pinpointed the distinctive flavour profiles of chocolate. Logan then went back to The Macallan's warehouses in search of those characters.
The Fine Cacao is also centered around being environmentally friendly with the use of a fully recyclable and biodegradable box made from discarded cacao pods.

The taste profiles are extracted from the official Macallan site
Color: Toasted cacao beans
Aroma: Chocolate, butter toffee, oak, pear
Palate: Chocolate covered raisins, ginger warmth, fig, marzipan
Finish: Medium, with chocolate
ABV: 40%

Where to buy?
As of now, The Macallan Fine Cacao can only be purchased at Singapore's Changi Airport's Lotte Duty Free in a pop-up store from now till 30 June 2022.
The pop-up store can be found in Changi Airport's Terminal 3 Departure Hall and features an augmented reality experience for customers to discover the whisky.
The bottle will be introduced to more global travel retail locations from mid-May 2022, until then you can purchase it in Singapore Changi Airport Lotte Duty Free shops for the price of S$215.

With that, we have come to the end of our very first feature of a new blog series, the 'Collector's Corner' where we feature bottles that we (or the whisky community) think are worth collecting!
Judging from the hype and crazy price inflation of its predecessor, the Rich Cacao, we feel that the Fine Cacao will eventually reach whisky celebrity status as well (as with most Macallans)!
