Details | The 2023 US Edition has a total outturn of only 2640 bottles from a variety of cask types, including the new Taransaud T5 French oak, Mizunara hogshead, sherry, and chibidaru modified hogshead. Using 100% heavily peated single malts, with hints of orange peel, mint, loquat, and melon, leading to a rich and smokey palate, with a nutty and black tea finish. The 2023 label reimagines US Commodore Matthew Perry—a key figure in the United States’ rapport with Japan in the 19th century—enjoying a dram of Ichiro’s Malt in Washington D.C., surrounded by the cherry blossom trees gifted from former Tokyo Mayor Yukio Ozaki and pioneering chemist Dr. Jokichi Takamine in 1909. |
